Cosmetic dentistry
Work on the shape, colour and alignment of the front teeth, planned before it is begun.
What it is
Cosmetic dentistry covers treatments (veneers, bonding, reshaping) aimed at improving how your smile looks while keeping it fully functional. Dr. Patel has created veneer and zirconia crown-based smile makeovers for patients locally and abroad.
Who it's for
- Chipped, discoloured, or uneven front teeth
- Gaps you'd like closed without orthodontics
- A smile that needs refinement, not a complete redesign
- Patients with healthy teeth and gums as a starting point
Who it isn't for
- Cosmetic work isn't a substitute for treating decay or gum disease underneath; those are addressed first
- If the goal is an entirely different tooth shape or smile style than what your bone and gum structure can naturally support, our team will have that conversation honestly before any preparation begins, rather than promise something that won't hold up
If this is you, we'll say so at the first visit rather than after.
Questions
Questions people ask
Veneers or bonding, what's the difference?
Veneers are custom-made thin shells bonded to the front of teeth, longer-lasting and more resistant to staining. Bonding is a quicker, more affordable repair using tooth-coloured resin, better suited to smaller fixes.
How long do veneers last?
With good care, veneers commonly last a decade or more.
Is tooth structure removed for veneers?
A thin layer of enamel is typically removed to fit the veneer properly; this is discussed with you beforehand.
Will the result look natural?
Digital Smile Design is often used beforehand so you can see and approve the proposed shape, size and shade before anything is prepared.
How do I maintain cosmetic work?
Normal brushing and flossing, avoiding biting very hard objects, and regular check-ups.
What affects the cost?
The material used (veneer type, zirconia vs other), the number of teeth involved, and the technique chosen.
